PROJECT

We are a group of creators who would like to collect donations in Switzerland

for the victims of 11.03.2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.

Each of us creates an original donation box, brings it to exhibitions, and

encourages exhibition visitors to donate into the boxes. From now on, we

would like to continue joining various events within Switzerland.

Organised *by some Japanese residents in Milan, “Charity Box EMERGENCY

PROJECT FOR JAPAN,” an exhibition of charity box design by designers and

architects, took place during the Milano Salone in April 2011.

Although musicians have been giving a number of charity concerts ever since

11.03.2011, those who are in the art field had not been active in supporting

the victims of Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. As a way of encouraging

donations, “charity box exhibition” seems unique and efficient.

Therefore we took the size and the characteristics of Switzerland into our

consideration and came up with our own way to make a domestic exhibition

tour. Each of us keeps his/her own box and brings each box to exhibitions. In

this way, all of us can spread out tasks as much as possible and continue the

tour. This may be possible, because Switzerland is around the same size as

Kyushu and it is not too difficult to move within the country.

Although the designer population in Switzerland may be less than in Milan,

there had been no exhibition where from contemporary art to craft, design

including fashion and textile, architecture, and a wide range of art fields have

been gathered together.

Please visit our exhibition, when we come close to your town!

*The idea of collecting donations by designing a number of charity boxes was first planned

by L’Isola della Speranza, a non-profit organisation by some Japanese residents in Milan to support

Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami victims. Starting from Milano Salone in April, the Italian exhibition

has been on tour in Italy with the participation of more than 50 designers and artists.
